The campaign "Immortal Regiment", launched in 2011, covered many countries, the number of which increases from year to year. Today more than 80 states take part in it. This year, on the eve of Victory Day, the Immortal Regiment has already passed through the streets of Luxembourg and Bethlehem.
In Luxembourg, our compatriots: youth and veterans, a delegation of the Tambov region, students of the Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin, along with portraits of his grandfathers and great-grandfathers, marched to the monument to the heroes of World Wars in Bonvua cemetery, where they honored the bright memory of front-line heroes. The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Luxembourg, Viktor Sorokin, representatives of the veterans' organizations of Luxemburg, addressed the participants.
In Palestine this year, the Immortal Regiment was held for the third time. More than 300 people from all cities of the country took part in it: members of Palestinian non-governmental organizations, representatives of the Russian Center for Science and Culture, a delegation of the Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin. Also Natalia Zhukovskaya, head of the department of international relations and political science at the TSU, and deputy dean of the faculty of history, world politics and sociology at the TSU, Nikolai Zudov gave a course of lectures “The role of the USSR in World War II”. The lectures are translated into Arabic and contain information about the most important facts about the Great Patriotic War, about the true role of the USSR in the Victory over fascist Germany.
“The light of the Great Victory flows through space and time, filling our history, culture, and life of every person with a special meaning,”- says the rector of the TSU named after G.R. Derzhavin Vladimir Stromov. - Our duty is to remember the contribution of everyone who defended the country, who worked in the fields and in workshops, in classrooms and hospitals. The total immortal feat of these people was and will remain the most vivid symbol of the highest patriotism, unity and spiritual power. We, descendants, will do everything possible to preserve the memory of great people, whose hands forged the Victory!
