Students and professors of TSU named after G.R. Derzhavin celebrated the 74th anniversary of the Great Victory. Patriotic and commemorative events were held in Tambov State University since the beginning of the year.

For three months together with the Museum and Exhibition Center of the Tambov Region, Derzhavin University implemented the project “Learn from the Heroes to Protect the Motherland”. More than 500 students from all institutes and departments of TSU got acquainted with this exhibition, learned about the exploits of Tambov people at the front and in the rear, imbued with examples of the courage and bravery of the war heroes.

The 74th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War was also one of the themes of the spring, literary, cycle of the cultural and educational project "Derzhavin  Seasons". Together with the Tambov Youth Theater we organized a literary and musical evening dedicated to the poetry of Olga Bergholz. She was the voice of besieged Leningrad, a symbol of the stamina and courage of the Soviet people in the war years.

In addition, under the guidance of professors of the Faculty of Culture and Arts, Associate Professor Andrey Pronin and Professor Marina Yuryeva, TSU graduates prepared a performance-concert “We were whirling frontal blizzard”, which became the musical chronology of the Great Patriotic War.

On the eve of Victory Day on military monuments of Tambov Derzhavin University launched a sightseeing bus. The staff of the Museum and Exhibition Complex and TSU students, who organized the Marathon of Memory action, told children from 15 schools of the region about the feats of their fellow countrymen and the contribution of Tambov to the Victory.

- May 9, 1945 forever inscribed in the heroic chronicle of our country. We will never forget the feat of the liberator people, who defended the independence and integrity of our state in the bloody battles of Great Patriotic War, the right of people to a peaceful life, - says the rector of the TSU named after G.R. Derzhavin Vladimir Stromov. - This is a national holiday, bringing together all generations of Russians.

The culmination of the celebration of the 74th anniversary of the Great Victory was the parade on Lenin Square. As in the past year, Derzhavin's young soldiers, students of the Institute of Law and National Security, were in the parade. Together with the servicemen of the Tambov garrison on the central square of the city for the first time a box of students of the military department of TSU named after G. R. Derzhavin.

Activists of the TSU Student Council laid flowers at the memorials "Eternal Flame" and "Tank" Tambov Collective Farmer ". University representatives took part in a memorial service at Vozdvizhenskoye cemetery.

In the first days of the war, more than 70 students and teachers of the Tambov State Pedagogical Institute, the predecessor of the TSU, went to the front. One of the buildings was placed under evacuation hospital. Dozens of female students took courses telegraph operators, radio operators, nurses. Students helped to strengthen the defense power of the country.
