In the space of the historical and domestic exposition of the Museum of History of the TSU “Peasant Family - Peasant World”, an exhibition of the folk costume of the Tambov province of the 19th - early 20th centuries opened.
The exposition is unique because it features 14 authentic sets of traditional clothes of Tambov peasants: men's shirts and ports, women's shirts, hats, belts, shoes and much more, - said the director of the TSU Museum Nadezhda Budyukina. - The collection has a scientific value: it is collected as a result of ethnographic and ethno-linguistic practices.
As the organizers of the exhibition noted, the folk costume reflects the people's historical past, their worldview, national identity, artistic and aesthetic views.
Employees of the university museum prepared an exhibition together with the Tambov Society of Local History Amateurs. The basis was made up of items from private collections of a specialist in intangible cultural heritage of the Scientific and Methodological Center for Folk Art, founder of the Brands of Tambov region Museum, Lyudmila Evtikhieva, head of the Tambov Society of Regional Studies, graduates of the TSU Mikhail Semenov, and the collection of the Museum of History of Derzhavin University. The exposition is a part of the project “Homeland begins with a small one”, which is being implemented with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund for non-profit organizations.
The exhibition is open to all comers and will work until the end of 2019.
