Alina Geller, a third-year student of the Institute of Economics, Management and Service became the winner of the Open Competition for the RF President Scholarship to study abroad in the 2018-2019 school year. She will do a course at Indiana State University, USA. This university is one of the oldest partners of Derzhavin University, which has hosted TSU students and professors to do different courses and internships. Alina Geller will take a bachelor's degree program in economics and conduct research related to the study of changes in the foreign exchange market.
“It was difficult for me to win the competition. I was very nervous and thought a lot about the competition. Besides me, over 100 students from all the cities of our country took part in the competition," says Alina. “I had a lot of questions at registration of documents. The Department for Research Activities of Students and Young Researchers and the Department of International Relations provided assistance in preparing all that was necessary for me. We have been waiting for the results for about three months and finally received great news.”
As Alina noted, “Studying abroad is a significant achievement, contributing to the development of your research work, your further creative development, as well as obtaining essential life experience. All these aspects allow us to plan research in the long term and get additional motivation for scientific research and new achievements.”
“In recent years, the number of victories of TSU students in scientific competitions and olympiads has grown significantly. This shows that today much attention is paid in TSU to the development of student research,” said Vladimir Stromov, TSU rector. “More than 90 student scientific circles and centers are actively functioning in the University subdivisions, new laboratories with modern equipment for innovative research are being opened, the scientific periodical “Derzhavinsky Forum” is being published, the Student Scientific Society is working actively. Our efforts are aimed at ensuring that TSU students receive a high-quality and competitive education of international standard.
