The academic year at TSU traditionally started with the Derzhavin line dedicated to the Day of Knowledge. This year over 3,600 freshmen crossed the threshold of Tambov State University. Among them, 600 people are from other countries.

The rector of TSU Vladimir Stromov addressed the newly-minted students.

- A new stage begins in your life. You have chosen Derzhavin University - for us it is a great honor and responsibility. We will do everything so that the years spent at TSU become the brightest in everyone’s life! - said the rector of TSU Vladimir Stromov. - Set goals, go for it, go ahead despite any difficulties, and everything will work out!

This year over 7,000 applications were accepted during the admission campaign. The number of budget places was 1,500.

The most popular among applicants this year were the educational programs of the specialty: “General Medicine”, “Judicial and Prosecutorial Activities”, “Security of Information Technologies in Law Enforcement”. Among future lawyers, a high competition was noted, even among those who acted on an extrabudgetary basis.

At the  line freshmen solemnly adopted the Code of Honor of a student of TSU named after G.R. Derzhavin. By tradition, students laid flowers at the monument to Gavriil Romanovich Derzhavin. The holiday ended with a flash mob with  salute of confetti.
