Chinese 1st year students studying Russian at the Faculty of International Education of the Hainan Institute of Economics and Business, got acquainted with the Russian national holiday – Maslenitsa.
Deputy Director Zhou Li Xia and teacher Irina Popovicheva told the students about Russian culture and traditional holidays, many of which fall during the changing seasons.
First-year students Ren Kaiqi and Zhou Yu introduced the audience to the history, customs and attributes of the most beloved Russian holiday - Maslenitsa. Chinese students got acquainted with Russian proverbs and sayings related to this holiday, and also mastered recipes for making pancakes. The event ended with a tea party with pancakes to the cheerful Russian folk music.
– Such events are very informative and emotionally useful for our students. They introduce Russian culture and history, cuisine, folklore," said Deputy Director Zhou Li Xia. – All this takes place in a kind atmosphere, our students act both as listeners and as direct participants. Studying the Russian language and culture in this form is certainly very interesting for students.
The event was prepared and organized with the support of Deputy Director Zhou Li Xia, Head of the Department of Russian Chen Jiecianzi and with the direct participation of Associate Professor of the Department of Russian Language at Derzhavin University Irina Popovicheva, who currently works at the Hainan Institute of Economics and Business as a visiting lecturer (within the framework of the academic mobility program).
