Admission procedure
Every year, international students have the opportunity to take part in a competitive selection and receive a quota from the Government of the Russian Federation for free education at Russian universities.
The received quota from the Government of the Russian Federation covers the full cost of training. In addition, a foreign student receives a monthly scholarship. As part of the quota training, the student independently pays for the costs of living in a dormitory, a health insurance policy, and undergoing mandatory fingerprinting and medical examination procedures.
The Russian Government quota for studying in Russia is provided to foreign citizens on a competitive basis. A competition for obtaining a quota is held annually starting from September-October at the Representative Offices of Rossotrudnichestvo (Russian Houses) or at the Russian Embassies in the country of residence of a foreign citizen.
To apply for a scholarship take the following steps:
CONTACT THE REPRESENTATIVE OFFICE OF ROSSOTRUDNICHESTVO (RUSSIAN HOUSE) OR THE RUSSIAN EMBASSY IN YOUR COUNTRY and clarify the procedure, criteria and deadlines for competitive selection to receive a quota from the Russian Government to study in Russia. The selection procedure and number of quotas may vary depending on the country.

Register on the website education-in-russia.com, fill out the application form and select Derzhavin Tambov State University as the first among other universities in Russia where you would like to study. If you need to clarify the area of studies, the code of the educational program, as well as the availability of the chosen program at the university, then you can check this information on the website: russia-edu.minobrnauki.gov.ru
You will need the following documents to apply:

A copy of passport, notarized translation of passport.

A copy of the education document, notarized translations of education documents.

A certificate of recognition of foreign education and (or) foreign qualifications* (if available).

A copy of a medical certificate confirming the absence of medical contraindications for study.

A copy of a medical certificate confirming the absence of HIV and AIDS.

A copy of a medical certificate confirming the absence of all types of hepatitis and tuberculosis.

A copy of the document with the results of mandatory preliminary medical examinations (upon admission to training in certain specialties).

An abstract in Russian and/or English (for applicants for graduate programs, assistantships, internships, and residency programs).

A list of publications (for applicants to graduate programs, assistantships, internships, and residency programs).

Copies of documents confirming the status of a compatriot.

Other documents confirming receipt of individual achievement results (if available).
PASS THE COMPETITIVE SELECTION TO OBTAIN A RUSSIAN FEDERATION GOVERNMENT QUOTA

The content of the competitive selection may differ in different countries.
The competitive selection may contain the following stages:

A competition of educational documents, in which the results of your school certificate are assessed.
Portfolio competition, which evaluates your individual achievements.
Online interview.
COMPETITIVE SELECTION OF FOREIGN CITIZENS BY EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS
At this stage, your application is submitted to Derzhavin Tambov State University or other Russian universities.
After approval of your application by the university, you will receive an official document confirming receipt of the Russian Government quota for studying in Russia – Recommendation letter for admission.
EXECUTION OF ENTRY DOCUMENTS AND ARRIVAL IN RUSSIA
After receiving the Recommendation letter for admission, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia will issue you an invitation.
After this, you can get a Russian visa and come to study at Derzhavin University.
Upon receipt of a quota from the Government of the Russian Federation, Derzhavin Tambov State University will provide you with a place in a university dormitory (accommodation cost is at the student’s expense).
To be enrolled in the University you will need to bring the following documents with you:
Passport with a valid visa (valid for more than 1 month);
notarized translation of the passport;
education document (certificate);
notarized translation of the education document;
migration card (issued when crossing the Russian border).
You will receive more detailed information about arrival and enrollment at the university after receiving a quota and assignment to Derzhavin Tambov State University.
