Steps to admission
1. Notarized translations of the documents:
- translation of the international passport;
- translation of educational documents.
All translations must be certified by a notary.
2. Legalization of educational documents
All foreign students coming to Russia to study must legalize their educational documents.
The procedure for legalizing your documents can take a long time (up to one month). Please take care of this in advance. You can obtain information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Consulate/Embassy of the Russian Federation.
For countries participating in the Hague Convention, an Apostille stamp is affixed:
- it is put on the original document or on a separate sheet attached to the document;
- affixing the Apostille stamp is carried out by the competent authorized bodies of the country where the document was issued (Department of Education, Ministry of Education, educational institutions).
For other countries, consular legalization is required.
It takes two stages:
Stage 1 – certification of the document (original or copy) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country where the document was issued, the appropriate stamps are affixed indicating the position and signature of the certifying person.
Stage 2 – certification by the consular services of the Russian Federation (consulate or representative office of the Russian Federation) in the country of issue of the document, the appropriate stamps are affixed indicating the position and signature of the certifying person.
Abolishment of legalization requirement.
Documents issued in countries participating in multilateral or bilateral agreements that abolish the requirement for legalization of documents are accepted without legalization.
