Then I continued my training in residency in Saint Petersburg, at the North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov, specializing in Traumatology and Orthopedics.

In 2014, I began my medical education at Tambov State University with the goal of becoming a doctor. As a first-generation college graduate and doctor, the journey came with its own set of challenges, but Tambov gave me the strong academic and personal foundation I needed to grow.
After graduating, I passed both the Indian Foreign Medical Licensing Exam and the USMLEs. Today, I’m proud to serve as a Postdoctoral research fellow at one of the world’s leading institutions, Yale University, where I work on cutting-edge research in ovarian cancer and placenta accreta. My focus is on advancing women’s health and reproductive rights through science, policy, and advocacy.
For the past two years, I’ve been involved with the WHO Collaborating Centre, contributing toresearch towards improving surgical care delivery in low- and middle-income countries. I also serve on the Global National Surgical Policy group, where I work on efforts to build more equitable surgical systems around the world.
Tambov State University will always hold a special place in my story, for shaping my identity as a doctor and opening doors to opportunities I once only imagined.

My lifelong dream of becoming a doctor began to take shape in 2014, when I moved to Tambov to begin my medical education. What made the experience truly formative were the professors, extraordinary mentors who taught not just medicine, but compassion, discipline, and excellence. Their guidance continues to shape my journey.
I graduated in 2020 with a Red Diploma and a Certificate of Academic Excellence. After returning to India, I passed the national licensing exam and later completed the USMLEs to become an ECFMG-certified doctor.
Along the way, I discovered my true calling in psychiatry. This passion led me to my current role as a Research Assistant in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, where I study the impact of ketamine and music on treatment-resistant depression.
I’m also engaged in mental health research through collaborations with NIMHANS Bangalore and State University of New York, where I focus on strengthening child and adolescent mental health systems and exploring the future role of AI in psychiatry. My commitment to global health equity extends to my work with the WHO Collaborating Centre, India & Global National Surgical Policy group, where I contribute to integrating mental health into surgical care pathways in low- and middle-income countries.
Looking ahead, I plan to pursue a psychiatry residency in the U.S., where I hope to bridge research, clinical care, and policy to champion inclusive, equitable mental healthcare.
From Tambov to Yale, it’s been an incredible journey and I remain deeply grateful to Tambov State University for the education and mentorship that set it all in motion.

A 2018 graduate of Derzhavin Tambov State University, cardiologist at the National Medical Research Center of Cardiology named after Academician Chazov under
the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
"In 2018, I graduated from Derzhavin Tambov State University with a degree in General Medicine, and then completed a residency in Cardiology at Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.
I am currently working as a cardiologist at Russia’s top cardiology center — the Chazov Center in Moscow.
Derzhavin University was the first stage of my medical education. It is my foundation — the basis of all my knowledge.
This is where I received my first medical training. This is where I began learning Russian, which now helps me in my professional life. I can freely communicate with my patients and colleagues in Russian. I have many Russian friends who have become like a second family to me.
The Russian language is very difficult! But I believe everything depends on the teacher. I had the best Russian language teacher — her classes made me fall in love with the language, Russian culture, and Russia itself!"
