The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Gabonese Republic to the Russian Federation, Mr. Sosthene Ndemby, and the First Counselor of the Embassy, Mr. Rolland Georges Ontsougou, arrived in Tambov on a working visit. They became guests of honor at the diploma award ceremony for international students of the Institute of Medicine and Health Preservation, and also held talks with Rector Pavel Moiseev.
Mr. Ndemby expressed his satisfaction with the education of young compatriots at Derzhavin University, noting that the University administration attaches great importance not only to the quality of education received, but also to everyday life.
– I was really impressed by the number of international students studying at Derzhavin University. This means that their parents trust you. The students themselves, like the graduates, are ambassadors of Derzhavin University in their countries, and their words and recommendations are the best characteristics for the University's image abroad. The parties discussed a wide range of issues – expanding cooperation in training medical doctors, issues of completing and recognizing internships, scientific cooperation and internships for young professionals, and improving the living conditions of students. Much attention was paid to new and promising areas of cooperation.
Rector of Derzhavin University Pavel Moiseyev:
– We are interested in expanding our presence in Gabon. We have proposals that have proven themselves in other countries, which I presented to the Ambassador. These are the International Olympiad in the Russian Language, joint educational programs with foreign universities using the “3+1” and “2+2” formulas. Mr. Ndemby expressed particular interest in the prospects for training students in natural sciences, which is very important for the economy of Gabon. We agreed to work together on an educational program for future engineers.
Almost 30 students from Gabon are currently studying at Derzhavin University majoring in medicine and international relations.
