A public lecture by the outstanding scientist, writer and journalist, deputy chairman of the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society Yuri Tavrovsky was held at Derzhavin University. It was organized by Derzhavin University and the regional branch of the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society.
Yuri Tavrovsky is a recognized expert on the problems of the Far East, combining the experience of a statesman with writing talent. That is why the lecture “Mao Zedong: Politics and Creativity” was devoted not only to pages of the biography of the leader of the Chinese revolution, but to a wide range of issues of transformation of Chinese statehood in the 20th century.
Of particular interest to the audience, consisting of professors and students, as well as experts from the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society, were Yuri Tavrovsky’s judgments about the origins and prospects of Russian-Chinese interstate relations.
In his opinion, the conditions of the Central Military District and the policy of sanctions of Western countries against other states are bringing Russia and China closer together. Moreover, the current stage of Russian-Chinese relations is revealed by the lecturer through the concept of “combat coordination” - following the example of interstate contacts in the military sphere.
Yuri Tavrovsky’s visit ended with an agreement on further close cooperation between the university and the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society. Its result should be the development of interest in China among scientists and the general public.
