A meeting of the Board of Directors (Deans) of medical institutes (faculties) subordinate to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia was held in Derzhavin University. Deputy Minister of Health of Russia Tatyana Semenova, heads of educational institutions, directors and deans of medical institutes and faculties from more than 15 universities discussed issues of the quality of medical education, postgraduate education of doctors, additional funding and ways of improving the Russian healthcare system. The meeting was timed to coincide with the 15th anniversary of the Medical Institute of Derzhavin University. The meeting was opened by Rector Pavel Moiseev, Chairman of the Council, Director of the RUDN Medical Institute Alexey Abramov, acting Minister of Health of the Tambov Region Alexey Ovchinnikov.
Colleagues discussed current problems in the training of medical personnel. This is the need to improve the quality of training of future specialists, problems with the distribution of foreign students to practice bases, problems of shortage of teaching staff in the implementation of medical programs. Among the solutions are the transition from the quantitative growth of the Medical Institute to its qualitative content and development, the creation of a practical training center for foreign students, the development of a personnel reserve program, and the development of an effective support system for young scientists. The program of the Board of Directors (Deans) of medical institutes (faculties) includes the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference “Medical Education: Current Issues and Development Prospects.” The participants made presentations on the role of medical institutes in the development of the regional healthcare system, the peculiarities of training foreign students and the export of higher medical education, simulation technologies in medical education, etc.
