Graduation ceremonies were held at Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Toufic Djouama, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Russian Federation; Mr. Abdelkader Arrar, Attaché of the Embassy of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Russian Federation; and Mr. Koffi Leon Konan, Ambassador of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire to the Russian Federation. During the visit, the diplomats interacted with students from their countries and toured the university's infrastructure.
At the Derzhavin University, Yevgeny Pervyshov, Governor of the Tambov Region, held a working meeting with Mr. Toufic Djouama, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Russian Federation. The current state and future of relations between Russia and Algeria were discussed. The nature of these relations largely depends on the quality of interregional cooperation.
"Algeria and the Tambov Region already have strong ties in education and science. More than 2,300 international students from 63 countries study at our Derzhavin University, including 259 from Algeria," noted Yevgeny Pervyshov, head of the region. "The Tambov Region also shares a strong agricultural sector with Algeria. We discussed opportunities to expand the geography of our agricultural exports, including through working with the Algerian market and its ties with other African countries. I thank Toufic Juama for inviting the Tambov Region delegation to visit the Republic. We highly value our established partnership and are always open to dialogue and the implementation of new joint projects."
An important part of the visit was the participation of high-ranking diplomatic officials in the graduation ceremony for international students from the Institute of Medicine and Health Preservation.
"323 international students graduated from Derzhavin University this year in various fields and levels of study," said Pavel Moiseev, Rector of Derzhavin University. "Among the graduates, 277 were medical students from 25 countries. I sincerely wish the current graduates professional success and personal happiness. Our international medical graduates traditionally enjoy a high professional standing in their home countries. We are proud of them!"
Menasirah Abdessamad from Algeria and Cresencia Mashauri from Tanzania, both former graduates of Derzhavin University and now certified doctors, came to congratulate the Class of 2026.
