A two-day open cross-country skiing competition, dedicated to the memory of the rector of Derzhavin University Vladimir Stromov, was held on the ski track on the Derzhavin University campus in the village of Georgievsky. More than 50 skiers from the Tambov region took part - students, Derzhavin University employees, schoolchildren and cross-country skiing enthusiasts.
On the first day of competition, women covered a distance of 5 km, men – 10 km in the classical style. On the second day at the same distances the participants competed in the freestyle pursuit race. According to the results of the competition, the winner among men was Stepan Malkov from Kotovsk, second place went to Nikita Smirnov from Tambov, third place went to Nikolai Sitnikov from Rasskazov. Among the women, the representatives of the Derzhava ski club were the most distinguished. The first place went to Marina Bukina, second place to Anastasia Ivanishcheva, third place to Elena Palkina. These competitions became one of the control starts for the athletes of the Derzhava ski club in preparation for the VIII All-Russian Winter Universiade. At the beginning of March, skiers will go to Krasnogorsk.
