The XIII Forum of Rectors of Universities in Siberia, the Russian Far East and the Northeastern Regions of China took place in Harbin (China). A delegation from Derzhavin University, consisting of Rector Pavel Moiseev, Vice-Rector for Research and Development Alexander Gusev and Director for Strategic Communications Dmitry Seltser, took part in its work. The day before the opening, negotiations were held with representative delegations of Changchun (rector - Han Ye) and Yanbian (rector - Cai Hongxing) universities. Both universities are leading institutions of higher education in Jilin Province. During the negotiations, an agreement was reached to sign a protocol of intent with Changchun University and to continue consultations with Yanbian University.
“The next day my colleague Han Ye and I signed a protocol of intent,” comments Pavel Moiseev. – Although the protocol is of a framework nature, it provides for very specific steps for interactions in theeducational, scientific and cultural spheres. We are expecting Chinese colleagues from both universities to formalize and consolidate institutional relations.
The next day, delegation of Derzhavin University spent its entirety at the Heilongjiang Institute of Tourism located in Harbin (director – Song Mengjian). The host party showed great interest in developing relations with the Russian university. Negotiations centered around the prospects for full- time education of Chinese students at Derzhavin University. In China, the demand for tourism specialists with knowledge of Russian is increasing. The leadership of the Heilongjiang Institute plans to organize a visit to Tambov to reach specific agreements and sign relevant agreements.
