The first stages of the “Games of the Future” tournament have begun in Kazan. The official opening is February 21. The event will combine classical sports with digital ones. Participants - more than two thousand athletes from all over the world - will compete in 21 disciplines. The Tambov region will be represented by the head of the e-sports club “Derzhava”, vice-president of the Fidgetal Federation of the Tambov region Pavel Gorbunov and the secretary of the Federation Anastasia Gorbunova.
“Our university has big plans for the development of e-sports disciplines. To do this, we will improve the infrastructure and look for talents. I want to change the attitude towards e-sports in the Tambov region, I want to convince parents of schoolchildren and students that this is a serious activity that develops a young person no worse than skiing or chess. Chess, by the way, is also in the focus of our attention,” comments Pavel Moiseev, rector of Derzhavin University.
Derzhavin University is a center for the development of e-sports in the Tambov region. At the end of 2021, the university team “DerzhaWin” became the winner of the international student e-sports tournament in Dota 2 “Battle for Science”. Recently, the e-sports club “Derzhava” began working in physical disciplines, which combine classical competitions in the sport and competitions in a cyber format.
