Derzhavin celebrated Russian Science Day. Scientists, faculty, university students, and representatives of partner companies and research institutes were honored for outstanding achievements in research.
"Derzhavin University has a well-established tradition of honoring university scientists and students, those who are shaping the future of science today, in the lead-up to Russian Science Day," said Alexander Gusev, Vice-Rector for Research at TSU named after G.R. Derzhavin. "Derzhavin University is confidently moving forward in its scientific and technological agenda, focusing on large-scale applied research. Biotechnology, green chemistry, materials science, modern instrumentation, and demographic research are our breakthrough areas. In 2025, the "Technologies for a Circular Economy" strategic technological leadership project was launched, designed to unite the intellectual potential of university scientists to create a new economy in the region based on knowledge and advanced technologies. Two youth laboratories with significant federal funding have already been established and are operating within the framework of new national projects. We are implementing a unique project in scientific instrumentation in a consortium with leading Russian universities, including MIPT, and are working with the Russian Academy of Sciences to establish a center to support student families.
At the ceremonial meeting, they discussed issues related to the regional bioeconomy. An exhibition of Derzhavin University's scientists' achievements in the fields of biotechnology, green chemistry, materials science, modern instrumentation, and medical technology was on display.
The guest of honor, Raif Vasilov, Vice President for Bioeconomics at the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center and President of the Yury Ovchinnikov Russian Society of Biotechnologists, spoke online about the national project "Bioeconomy" and its potential implementation, including in the Tambov Region.
