Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin continues to develop partnerships with higher education institutions in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Antonina Shcherbak, Doctor of Philosophy and Professor of the Department of Russian Language, Russian, and Foreign Literature at Derzhavin University, visited our university's partner universities in Samarkand for a series of academic events.
At Sharof Rashidov Samarkand State University, Antonina Shcherbak taught a course on "Linguistic and Cultural Features in Fiction" for first-year master's students majoring in Linguistics (Russian Language). The course aims to develop skills in the linguocultural analysis of literary texts, decipher Russian and Uzbek cultural codes in the language of literary texts, as well as an understanding of the specifics of literary communication and mastery of phonetic, lexical, stylistic, and syntactic analysis. The classes were held as part of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Sh. Rashidov Samarkand University and Derzhavin University, signed in March 2023.
The Derzhavin University professor also participated in the national scientific and practical conference "Problems of Implementing Digital Technologies and Modern Methods in the Educational Process," which was held at Kattakurgan State Pedagogical Institute (Samarkand). The conference included a seminar for fourth-year undergraduate students discussing modern scientific approaches to teaching and learning Russian. The cooperation agreement with Kattakurgan State Pedagogical Institute was signed in February of this year.
Antonina Shcherbak conducted a lecture and practical seminar on "Expressing Temporal Relations in Simple and Complex Sentences" for second-year students at Samarkand State Medical University, another Derzhavin University partner. Students were introduced to grammar rules and lexical constructions in an abstract format and learned to apply them in real-life communicative situations. This approach allows for immediate practical application of knowledge, identification of common errors and their on-the-spot correction, and development of confidence in using Russian in authentic contexts.
