The 12th Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus "Youth of Belarus and Russia - Heirs of the Great Victory and the Future of the Union State" was held in Nizhny Novgorod, organized by the upper houses of parliaments of both states. A delegation from Derzhavin University headed by Rector Pavel Moiseev took part in the Forum.
Comprehensive interregional cooperation was considered at the Forum sections as the basis and prospects for our relations. The session of section 7 of the Forum "Youth Policy of the Union State as a Reliable Foundation for the Demographic Development of Russia and Belarus" was chaired by Elena Perminova, Chairperson of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy (RF), and Dmitry Baskov, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic on Education, Science, Culture and Social Development (RB).
They discussed serious issues of youth policy in the context of solving key demographic problems. They discussed in detail the formation of family values among young people, modern trends in working with young people in various areas, measures to support young families, the development of the social and labor sphere in the interests of young people, the partnership of the education system and the family, and the life attitudes of young people. Following the work of the section, a resolution was adopted, in which scientists from Derzhavin University took an active part.
- The topic of my talk at the section was "The Fourth Mission of the University: from Pro-natalist Measures to Pro-natalist Policy," - comments Pavel Moiseev. - The key idea – the efforts of universities to stimulate the birth rate – must be formalized in their fourth mission. This will stimulate the internal institutional and infrastructural restructuring of universities, designed to change the attitude of higher education and people immersed in this system to starting a family and having children. Measures to support young families in universities should be replaced by a policy formalized in a set of important decisions that promote childbirth. This is one of the most important missions of each university. A separate result of our participation in the Forum was a series of agreements with universities of the Republic of Belarus.
