The VIII Children's Folklore Festival "Winter Christmastide" was held in the village of Platonovka in Rasskazovo municipal district. It brought together participants from Moscow, Tver, Volgograd, Lipetsk, Podolsk, Cherepovets and the Tambov region - Tambov City, Rasskazovo, Bondari, Tambov and Umetsk municipal districts. The Festival itself included master classes on various elements of folk culture, from tying a scarf to traditional Tambov embroidery, folk fun and concerts by children's groups.
Derzhavin University has been cooperating with Rasskazovo Municipal District for quite a long time. The guests of the Festival were the rector of Derzhavin University Pavel Moiseev and foreign students studying at the university.
– It is wonderful that more and more attention is being paid to our national cultural code – customs, songs, games, folk costumes… It is doubly gratifying that this knowledge is being passed on to our children and the heritage of their ancestors does not seem archaic to them, – noted the rector of Derzhavin University Pavel Moiseev. – International students of Derzhavin University visited the Winter Christmastide for the first time. It is important to demonstrate to them the traditions of Russian hospitality, to reveal the strength and depth of the cultural and spiritual life of the Tambov land.
Immersion into the space of the Russian village and Russian traditional culture made an indelible impression on the students.
– I have long dreamed of visiting outside the big city and seeing life in the rural hinterland. Participation in the festival is exotic for us. Learning about folk songs and dances was unforgettable. My vocabulary has been enriched with a new word, “kolyadka,” said Moukoko Matiki Yunis Julie, a Gabonese student at the Institute of Medicine and Health Preservation of Derzhavin University.
Pavel Moiseev also visited the sports school in Platonovka, which is attended by the Derzhavin University student Kristina Demidova (Secondary vocational education). At the end of last year, she became the first Master of Sports of Russia in the history of women's boxing in the Tambov region. Now Kristina is preparing for new competitions and expects to represent Derzhavin University and our region at major all-Russian competitions.
