Derzhavin University University held a meeting for parents and prospective students, titled "Dialogue with the University: Everything About Admissions," to discuss the 2026 admissions campaign.
The meeting, held in the University's Educational Theater, brought together over 200 participants. For those unable to attend in person, a live stream was organized, allowing residents of other regions to join the discussion in real time.
"Derzhavin University currently has over 13,000 students, including 2,500 international students. The university offers programs in secondary general, secondary vocational, and higher education, as well as opportunities for master's, postgraduate, and residency programs," commented Yana Radyukova, Vice Rector for Education, Youth Policy, and Educational Work at Derzhavin University. During the 2026 admissions campaign, we offer 1,700 state-funded places in the most popular programs. Our students can earn three degrees and a military-related specialty. Students are already involved in the work of the university's research institutes, scientific schools, centers, and laboratories from their first year. A comfortable study environment is important to us, so students have access to seven academic buildings, 11 dormitories, a rental house, a fitness center, an ice rink, a recreation center, and a modern medical center. The university guarantees not only a high-quality education but also a vibrant extracurricular life through student associations, volunteer groups, and sports teams. This will allow everyone to develop their individual learning and development path at our university.
At the meeting, the main changes and current admissions rules for 2026 were discussed; admission requirements after 9th and 11th grades, as well as after college graduation; the list of Unified State Exam (USE) subjects required for admission to various programs; key dates for the admissions campaign; and other issues.
"The Russian Ministry of Education and Science has updated the university admissions process for 2026. Applicants applying for higher education programs will now be able to submit applications through Gosuslugi, in person at the university, or by mail. The admissions campaign begins on June 20. College graduates will be able to apply without the Unified State Exam (USE), using internal tests if their major matches their chosen field of study. Changing majors will require the USE," noted Marina Molneva, Executive Secretary of the Admissions Committee at Derzhavin University. "The changes affect the admissions mechanism for graduates within the target quota—target spots will be assigned to specific applicants, specifying their modes of study and educational programs. You can find an applicant on the Rabota Rossii portal. The minimum USE scores for admission to universities in the 2026/27 academic year have been increased in six subjects; however, these scores do not guarantee admission and serve as the lower threshold for applicants to submit their documents." The number of places for fee-paying admission is limited, and for some specialties, contractual places are determined directly by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. This year, the admissions process will be simplified for applicants—for final confirmation, a signed consent form will be sufficient, without the requirement to present an original certificate.
Following the general meeting, applicants and parents were able to meet in person with the directors of institutes and faculties. During these consultations, prospective students learned more about the educational programs and their prospects for studying at Derzhavin.
