A delegation from Derzhavin University, including Acting Director of the Engineering and Technical Institute Tatyana Pasko, Director of the Foreign Language Center Ekaterina Ryabykh, and Deputy Director of the Department of International Relations Irina Mizis, visited higher education institutions in Hubei Province. The visit took place as part of the Year of Education in Russia and China and is aimed at developing partnerships with Chinese universities in priority areas of artificial intelligence, robotics, and big data.
Derzhavin University representatives visited Wuhan National Software Engineering College (Wuhan), Jingzhou Institute of Technology (Jingzhou), and Ezhou Vocational University (Ezhou). They discussed the implementation of academic mobility programs for students and faculty, joint educational programs, and Russian and Chinese language instruction for students.
- Cooperation between Russia and China in education has been rapidly developing in recent years. "Therefore, it is entirely natural that 2026 and 2027 have been declared Cross Years of Education in Russia and China," says Irina Mizis, Deputy Director of the Department of International Relations at Derzhavin University. "For our university, this provides additional impetus for expanding partnerships with Chinese universities and lays a solid foundation for our future collaboration. We are seeing great interest from our Chinese partners. Many universities that train specialists in technical fields are beginning to teach Russian. Interest in Russia and Russian education is growing."
During their visit to Wuhan National Software College, the delegation was met by Zou Huiling, who came to study at Derzhavin University on an academic exchange program. She currently works at the college as a Russian language teacher.
The Derzhavin University students visited a memorial in Wuhan dedicated to the memory of Soviet volunteer pilots who died in 1938 in the Chinese People's War against the Japanese.
This year, Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin plans to develop and implement joint educational programs with Chinese partners in various fields of study.
