The Russian-Chinese forum on agricultural cooperation was held in Moscow, at the Chinese Embassy. It brought together more than 200 representatives of relevant state and regional departments, industry associations and agricultural enterprises from the two countries. Derzhavin University was represented by Vice-Rector for Research Alexander Gusev.
Two topics were put on the agenda of the meetings, the first of which was cooperation in the agricultural sector. Russia is actively pursuing a course towards intensive development of the agricultural sector and strengthening the country's position as a guarantor of global food security. Today, Russia sends food to more than 160 countries and is the world leader in the supply of wheat, peas, barley, oilseed flax, frozen fish, and holds leading positions in sunflower oil and a number of other products. China is interested not only in Russian agricultural products, but also in processed products, and is ready to provide equipment and technology for its part.
The second topic on which the participants shared their experience and ideas was the prospects for developing trade in agricultural products. Representatives of various organizations from both sides raised the issues of transnational payments, talked about new trading platforms, logistics, and scientific partnerships.
- Today we are facing challenges, and by solving them together, we will ensure bilateral food security, - says Zhang Jumei, a leading researcher at the Heilongjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences. - This is veterinary and phytocontrol, selection of agricultural crops, validation and registration of varieties and hybrids, production of agricultural seeds, and trade.
At the forum, Vice-Rector for Research Alexander Gusev held talks on possible cooperation with Russian and Chinese organizations.
– We discussed prospects for cooperation in biotechnology with representatives of Yebio Biogineering Co., Ltd from Qingdao, cooperation in the field of sustainable production methods to reduce waste and rational use of resources in agricultural production with colleagues from the Russian Losen Technology LLC, and the conditions and opportunities for investment in knowledge-intensive segments of agriculture and food infrastructure in the Tambov Region with the China-Russia Investment Fund for Regional Development, – notes Alexander Gusev, Vice-Rector for Research at Derzhavin University. – As a result, a significant step has been made towards real scientific and technological cooperation between the university and representatives of the agrotech and biotech industries, including Chinese companies. This is in line with the university's general course towards cooperation with representatives of friendly countries.
With the assistance of Derzhavin University, agricultural producers from the Tambov Region participated in the Russian-Chinese Forum on Agricultural Cooperation. This became possible after the business program held at the China Week in Tambov - 2024.
