The 2nd International Academic Conference "Language, Culture, and Creativity in Transdisciplinary Change: Traditions and Innovations" was held at Belarusian State University (BSU). It was timed to coincide with the 95th anniversary of the birth of Russian linguist and leading scholar in the field of linguistic theory, Doctor of Philosophy Veronika Telia. The scientific event was co-organized by the Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Lomonosov Moscow State University.
Lyudmila Babina and Ekaterina Ryabykh, faculty members of the Department of Foreign Philology and Applied Linguistics at Derzhavinsky University, participated in the conference.
Andrei Blokhin, BSU Vice-Rector for Research, opened the conference. In his speech, Andrei Viktorovich noted that the conference is a unique platform for constructive intercultural dialogue, the exchange of experience, and the presentation of the best scientific achievements in philology, cultural studies, and creativity, as it brings together representatives of the scientific communities of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Oman, as well as Spain, France, and the Netherlands.
The plenary and sectional sessions of the conference discussed a wide range of issues, including theoretical and methodological problems in studying the relationship between language, culture, worldview, and the speaker; interdisciplinary approaches to the study of phraseology and paremiology; linguistic creativity in the polydiscursive space of modern society; image, metaphor, and symbol in artistic creation; language and culture in polymodal communication; and other relevant topics.
The conference became a significant scientific event that allowed for the resolution of a number of problems related to the development of fundamental science and the rapid implementation of its findings in practice.
