Leading Russian public diplomacy expert Natalia Burlinova signed a cooperation agreement with the university's rector, Pavel Moiseev regarding Derzhavin University and the Creative Diplomacy Center which she heads. The first large-scale joint project will be the "Hablemos con Rusia" (Let's Talk with Russia) summer school in Tambov for young leaders from Latin American countries.
- Under the current circumstances, universities must become active participants in public diplomacy, - comments Pavel Moiseev, rector of Derzhavin University. - We have a well-established and successfully operating model for promoting a positive image of Russia through higher education and intercultural communication. We also have new initiatives, such as the International University Project, recently implemented for the first time for a delegation from the National University of the Altiplano of Puna in Peru. Expanding public diplomacy capabilities, including through training and joint projects with leading Russian think tanks and international partners, seems to me a logical continuation of our work as an internationally oriented university.
Natalia Burlinova also delivered a series of lectures to students at Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin. Students majoring in international relations, political science, and journalism were able to learn about the theory and practice of Russian public diplomacy, its key tools, and the potential for achieving our country's foreign policy goals. The lecturer focused on rethinking Russian public diplomacy after 2022, its methods, and the shift in geographic priorities toward countries with a global majority.
- The role of public diplomacy is difficult to overestimate in the context of unprecedented sanctions pressure on Russia. A significant field of career opportunities is now opening up for future specialists in political science, international relations, media, and public relations, working internationally and promoting a positive image of our country, including abroad. I also spoke about them with students at Derzhavin University, - comments Natalya Burlinova.
