– Derzhavin University sets itself the task of not only providing high-quality education, but also creating a favorable atmosphere for cultural adaptation and integration of foreign students. The celebration of Maslenitsa (also known as Pancake Week) is one of the events aimed at familiarizing with Russian folk traditions and strengthening friendship in our multinational student community, – says Director of the Center for Social Adaptation and Intercultural Communication Ani Geghamyan. – I am sure that foreign students were able to feel national hospitality and gain a deeper understanding of Russian culture.
Russian pancakes became a traditional treat for international students.
– Maslenitsa deals with Russian traditions: pancakes, songs, dances. All this creates a special festive mood, – comments Khalil Nasrallah, a resident student in the Clinical and Laboratory Diagnostics program at Derzhavin University. – I have been in Russia for seven years now, and Maslenitsa has become one of my favorite festivals. I even learned how to make Russian pancakes, and now my relatives in Lebanon always look forward to them.
On the first day of spring, students will go to the Staraya Olshanka estate, where they will have a cultural and educational program with tea and traditional Olshanka pancakes, as well as a tour of the estate park and a visit to the Church of the Resurrection of Christ the Savior.
