At the invitation of the University, a delegation from Jiangsu Province (China) has begun its visit. The delegation includes Professor Qi Ming, Minister of Education and Culture at the Guangsai State Investment Group, Director of the Russia-China Center; Xia Xingchen, Deputy Minister of Education and Culture at the Guangsai State Investment Group and Deputy Director of the Russia-China Center; Chen Mingyu, President of Nantong Technological University; Shen Chao, Vice President of Nantong Technological University; Chen Bin, Assistant to the President of Nantong Technological University.
The first day of the visit began with negotiations between the delegation and Pavel Moiseev, Rector of Derzhavin University, along with the University’s international affairs team.
- This visit by our Chinese partners is not spontaneous – it has been carefully prepared," commented Pavel Moiseev. - We recently visited Nantong, explored the city, and thoroughly examined the infrastructure of Nantong Technological University. After that, our teams began working on identifying potential areas of cooperation. We agreed that during this return visit, we would reach concrete agreements.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties agreed that during "China Week in Tambov Region" (September 22-27), ministers from Jiangsu Province, government officials from Nantong, and up to 15 local deputies will visit. Additionally, a Nantong orchestra of 51 performers will perform in Tambov Region. The orchestra has prepared a program of 25 pieces and will give 5 concerts at various venues in the region. This will be Nantong's largest delegation visit abroad. Finally, athletes from the Wushu College led by Shi Yang Lu, founder of the Shaolin Yanlu School in Dengfeng, Henan Province, will also visit.
Derzhavin University and Nantong Technological University will begin faculty and student exchange programs and scientific collaboration. The parties agreed that the task at this stage is to create a joint plan and involve professors, who will then collaborate independently.
- Our ultimate goal is to expand communication between Nantong and Tambov, commented Pavel Moiseev. - We need to move from university cooperation to city and regional cooperation. As two universities, we are taking on the role of mediators in establishing institutional relations. Together with Nantong Technological University we will serve as a bridge between our sides and Chinese partners. That is why today, with the participation of representatives of the Tambov Regional Government and Tambov City Administration, we held a roundtable 'Russian-Chinese Interregional Humanitarian and Trade-Economic Cooperation' with the Chinese delegation. We discussed economic and humanitarian partnership between Jiangsu Province and Tambov Region, as well as the possibility of establishing sister-city relations between Tambov and Nantong.
