Derzhavin University took part in the exhibition of Russian education in the Republic of Uganda. The event became part of the Russian Culture Festival in the city of Kampala. Derzhavin University was represented by Rebecca Namiya, a participant of the project “Popularization of the Russian language and Russian education in African countries.” She visited Derzhavin University in 2023 as part of a delegation of teachers from Uganda, got acquainted with the university, its infrastructure, students and teachers.
“The applicants were delighted with Derzhavin University. They were attracted by the large selection of educational programs at the university and various forms of training. Schoolchildren and students were most interested in educational programs in the fields of law, culture and art, tourism, and medicine. Many bachelors, having studied the possibilities of entering the master's program at Derzhavin University, decided to continue their education there,” says Rebecca Namiya. “
The exhibition of Russian education is organized by Derzhavin University partner, the Association of Russian-Speaking Women in Uganda “Rosinka”. Cooperation with the association began after the successful participation of Derzhavin University in the second Summit and Economic and Humanitarian Forum “Russia-Africa” in St. Petersburg in July 2023. The university management has established international partnerships with organizations of the Republic of Uganda.
The first students from the Republic of Uganda came to study at Derzhavin University in 2010. The most popular field of study among Ugandan students has become General Medicine.
