Derzhavin University held the grand opening of the "Popularization of Russian Language, Culture, and Russian Education" program for African education representatives.
From September 15 to 27, the University is hosting a delegation representing educational institutions from South Africa, Tanzania, Gambia, and Uganda.
The goals of the visit are to strengthen international ties in education, provide students with opportunities for professional growth, and promote the Russian language and Russian education in African countries.
– For the second year, Derzhavin University has been implementing the federal program for promoting the Russian language abroad. This was set by President Vladimir Putin. We view this series of events for representatives from African countries as one of the university's strategic priorities. This is important for the University as an international positioning platform, given that we have approximately two thousand students from African countries. Representatives of the African delegation visiting our University become ambassadors of Russian education, spreading information about the level of training and educational opportunities at TSU, - noted Pavel Moiseev, Rector of Derzhavin University.
The delegation's program includes an educational aspect with an intensive course on the supplementary general development program "Popularization of the Russian Language, Culture, and Russian Education in African Countries," a visit to Derzhavin University's infrastructure facilities, and a cultural immersion program with a tour of Tambov, the University museums, the art gallery, the Rachmaninov Estate, the Aseyev Estate Museum, and more.
- I love languages; I know French, German, and Italian, but Russian is the most beautiful language for me. There are difficulties, of course, such as grammar, cases, and endings. But with time, it's just a matter of practice, and everything works out, - says Kamya Deogratias Maseruka, a lecturer in Russian and German at Makerere University (Uganda). The most important thing is cooperation between our universities, so we can move forward and develop education together.
The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and the project operator is the D. I. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia.
