One of the brightest ethnosports festivals of the country "Atmanovskie Kulachki" took place in the Sosnovsky district of the Tambov region. The village of Atmanov Ugol was traditionally the venue, and the co-organizer was Derzhavin University.
The festival lasted three days and brought together fans of Russian fun and ethnosports from all over Russia and from abroad. The program of the festival included strength and team games, wall-to-wall fistfighting, lapta, ryukhi, archery and other competitions. The "Ethnosport Challenge" keel tournament attracted special attention. Not only professional athletes, but also spectators of the festival were able to try themselves in the competition. In addition to the sports part, master classes in traditional crafts were held for the guests: blacksmithing, wood carving, pottery, etc. Each person who wanted to made a souvenir with their own hands and took a piece of Russian life with them.
A tent camp was set up for tourists, which turned into a small ethnic town with bonfires and songs, and a mobile tourist information center introduced guests to the sights and picturesque places of the Tambov oblast.
Derzhavin University played a special role in organizing the holiday.
- Derzhavin University volunteers at the "Atmanovskie Kulachki" helped organize, support and conduct sports games. Thanks to their energy and involvement, the holiday acquired an even warmer atmosphere, and guests were able to comfortably and safely participate in competitions and master classes, - says Rector Pavel Moiseev. - Our international students got acquainted with the traditions of Russian ethnic sports. For many of them, participation in the "Atmanovskie Kulachki" was their first acquaintance with Russian national culture, which goes far beyond the classrooms.
The festival was also visited by participants of the cultural and educational project "School of Russian Language and Russian Folk Culture", implemented by Derzhavin University. Teachers from eight countries came to Tambov region to improve their qualifications, and at the same time became spectators of a unique ethnosport festival, which they will then tell their students about. The festival "Atmanovskie Kulachki" has long been a calling card of the region. In different years, it was included in the register of objects of intangible cultural heritage of Russia, received the Russian Event Awards, and was also in the lists of the top 200 best festivals in the country and the top 500 Russian cultural brands.
