The 3rd International Scientific and Practical Conference "Bioeconomics and Climate: A Global Dialogue" was held at Voronezh State Forest Engineering University named after G.F. Morozov, bringing together leading experts and scientists from Russia and abroad. Denis Sekirinsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, delivered a welcoming address at the conference's opening ceremony. He emphasized the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to understanding climate challenges and the importance of involving universities in implementing climate change projects.
A delegation from Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin participated in the conference. During the breakout session, Rector Pavel Moiseev presented a paper entitled "Prospects and Risks of Implementing Climate Change Projects on Agricultural Lands." "Soil cover is the largest terrestrial carbon reservoir, accumulating significantly more carbon than aboveground biomass and the atmosphere," noted Pavel Moiseev. "The report focused on the potential of agricultural lands in European Russia, where significant experience has been accumulated in assessing losses and potential for restoring organic carbon in soils."
The conference continued with the opening ceremony of the International Youth Summer Forestry School "ECO-Logical Future." Along with students from Belarus, Russia, China, Bosnia, Serbia, Republika Srpska, and Bangladesh, representatives of Derzhavin University participated.
The participation of Derzhavin University representatives in the conference and the opening of the summer school confirms its strong interest in the climate agenda and its willingness to contribute to the development of natural and climate projects. An integrated approach combining improved soil management, fallow land restoration, and the creation of protective forest plantations will not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also increase the fertility and resilience of agricultural landscapes. This is precisely the task that the scientific community of Derzhavin University has set for itself.
