The Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations of Derzhavin University (Head of Department is Associate Professor Svetlana Serova, PhD,) took first place in the rating of advertising and public relations departments of Russian universities of the Association of Communication Agencies of Russia. The results of the rating were summed up at the 29th All-Russian Scientific and Methodological Conference of Heads of Departments of Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations at M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University.
The Russian Association of Communication Agencies (RACA) is the largest professional association of participants in the Russian communications services market in the field of advertising, marketing and public relations.
The purpose of the competition is to create an independent rating of departments of higher education institutions that train specialists for the advertising industry, to develop uniform standards for training specialists in this industry, and to ensure transparency and objectivity in assessing the quality of educational programs. The rating is a significant reference point for applicants when choosing a university. In particular, it reflects the level of competitiveness of departments among others in the country, the quality of educational programs, and their demand in the education market.
The competition criteria were developed by representatives of the professional sphere with the participation of the teaching community and include five groups of indicators. The main ones are the department's staff, academic work, research activities, student participation in all-Russian competitions, as well as the department's interaction with industry.
In 2023, the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations of Derzhavin University became a laureate of this rating, and this year it shared first place with the Department of Advertising and Business Communications of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia.
– The main principle of implementing modern educational programs at Derzhavin University is training specialists in response to employers’ requests and together with them. Therefore, such a high assessment of the training of specialists in the field of advertising and public relations at Derzhavin University by the professional industry is very important for us, – says Yana Radyukova, Vice-Rector for Education, Youth Policy and Educational Work at Derzhavin University.
Earlier, the professional and public accreditation commission of the Russian Association of Communication Agencies (RACA) and the Analytical Center of the Russian Advertising Industry presented the first rating of media activity of universities. The rating assessed the information activity of universities in the areas of marketing, marketing communications, advertising, and public relations. Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin took eighth place out of 219 in the rating.
