Derzhavin University's “DerzhaWin” esports team won the Dota 2 competition at the VTB Student Esports League. The grand final took place at VK Play Arena in Moscow.
The team faced “MIREA Fresh Blood” in a contest for the title of the tournament's best student team and a cash prize of RUB 1,500,000.
“Standing on the grand-final stage, seeing the packed stands and hearing the crowd react to every decisive moment—these are the emotions we play for! Dota 2 is about staying united as a team in any situation. It's wonderful that events like this bring students, streamers and fans together, making esports a truly mainstream activity that everyone can feel part of,” said Pavel Gorbunov, captain of Derzhavin University's “DerzhaWin” team. “Winning the VTB Student Esports League was not just our achievement. It was also thanks to the support of our university and the friends who believed in us even when we doubted ourselves. Now we want not only to maintain this standard but to raise it even higher.”
The members of Derzhavin University's “DerzhaWin” team received their award from Dmitry Breitenbicher, Deputy President and Deputy Chairman of VTB's Management Board, whose grandmother was born in Tambov.
Guests and participants in the VTB Student Esports League visited interactive zones, played one-on-one matches with friends and watched a show match featuring popular streamers and members of the Dota 2 community. An autograph session with streamers was also held during the day.
