Derzhavin University is actively developing cooperation with educational institutions in the People's Republic of China. As part of "China Week in the Tambov Region," an agreement was signed to launch a joint, network-based remote preparatory department between the G.R. Derzhavin Tambov State University and Jinan Linghang International Talent Support Cooperation Co., Ltd. (PRC).
"This is the first time Derzhavin University has launched a network-based remote preparatory department in partnership with a Chinese organization. The one-year program will be taught by Chinese instructors of Russian as a Foreign Language (RFL) in an in-person format, while faculty members from Derzhavin University’s International Department will provide instruction remotely," says Elena Zueva, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at G.R. Derzhavin Tambov State University. "In September of this year, our Chinese colleagues completed professional development courses in RFL at our university, where they familiarized themselves with the standards for implementing the preparatory department’s curriculum. An agreement has also been reached regarding the academic mobility of Derzhavin University’s RFL instructors, who will travel to the PRC in the autumn of 2026 and the summer of 2027."
Derzhavin University also signed a second agreement—focused on international cooperation—with Shanxi University. During a meeting between the university’s leadership and representatives from the Chinese institution, both sides discussed prospects for future collaboration. The Chinese delegation included Xu Xiaodong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Music Institute at Shanxi University; Zhang Kun, a third-rank inspector/researcher at the Shanxi Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; and Li Yanfeng, Deputy Director of the Music Institute. In addition, a group of faculty members and students from Shanxi University has arrived as part of the delegation from the PRC. They will present a concert program titled "The Silk Road: Music Through the Ages" at the Derzhavin University Teaching Theatre, and will also perform in the towns of Kotovsk and Rasskazovo.
