The results of the Three University Missions ranking have been published. Derzhavin University improved its position among Russian universities, moving from the 113–156 band to the 108–151 band, while maintaining its position in the international ranking. It is the only university in the Tambov Region represented in this respected global ranking.
“For us, these results reflect, above all, the quality of the university's work and the demand for what we offer among students, the academic community and our partners,” commented Rector Pavel Moiseev. “I would highlight several fundamental points. The first is international recognition. Today, Derzhavin University has 2,066 students from 60 countries. We have 151 agreements with international partners in 20 countries, including 28 signed in the past year alone. Participation in in-person academic exchanges has increased by 28%. The university is no longer simply a place where international students come to study: it is a partner with which overseas colleagues are eager to develop new educational programmes and conduct research. This is how an international reputation is built.”
The second assessment criterion is educational quality and the confidence of prospective students. In 2026, the university improved the quality of its admissions intake: the average Unified State Exam score of incoming students rose by 2.5 points, from 64.4 to 66.92. Derzhavin University has long since expanded beyond the regional higher education market: it now enrols 1,300 students from 82 regions of Russia.
“Attracting talented applicants is only half the task,” Pavel Moiseev continued. “It is essential to provide them with an education that meets modern requirements and offers genuine prospects for professional development. That is why we are updating our curricula, strengthening practical training and involving employers in the educational process. In 2026 alone, we revised 43 degree programmes. At the same time, it is a matter of principle for us that, as Derzhavin University develops nationally and internationally, it remains firmly rooted in its home region. We want talented graduates of Tambov schools to see opportunities here for a high-quality education, research and successful careers, while regional businesses gain access to well-trained specialists and cutting-edge research.”
