On April 6 and 7, the Russian Kempo MMA Championship was held in St. Petersburg. More than 800 athletes from 57 clubs took part in the competetion. At the competition Nikita Lavrinov, a student of Derzhavin University, managed to become the silver medalist. Nikita competed in the 85 kg weight category and was one step away from the victory.
– Nikita approached the championship in excellent physical shape, but in the final he met a serious opponent, and by decision of the judges, the opponent won. He didn't have enough mental determination this time. We will work on our mistakes: we will pay special attention to fighting and controlling emotions,” summed up the athlete’s coach Dmitry Matveev.
Now Nikita is getting ready for the All-Russian KUDO tournament, which will be held at the end of May, and the mood for the World KEMPO MMA Championship. The competition is scheduled for November.
