The 10th All-Russian Summer Universiade, a major track and field competition for students at Russian universities, concluded at the Start Stadium in Saransk. More than 230 athletes from 62 universities participated. Derzhavin University was represented by three athletes.
Polina Tetushkina, a student at the Institute of Medicine and Health Perseverance, achieved the third-fastest time in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:39.18, once again meeting the Candidate Master of Sports standard.
"Polina demonstrated consistent, high-quality results in her distance all season long, meeting the Candidate Master of Sports standard," commented Natalya Kotova, track and field coach at the Derzhava Sports Club. "Polina is a very hard-working athlete, and even despite the unfavorable weather conditions, she gave her all and earned a well-deserved medal." I'd also like to highlight the contributions of two more of our students, Ekaterina Dronova and Nadezhda Bazykina, who also earned important points for their team. First, our football players took third place at the Universiade, and Polina took over the medal baton. Well done!
