Tatyana Filippova, a first-year law student at Derzhavin University, represented the university at the 3rd International Catherine the Great Forum.
This large-scale event brought together over 1,300 participants from 55 countries at the National Centre "Russia" in Moscow. The forum focused on issues of interethnic harmony, the preservation of cultural heritage, and humanitarian cooperation. The event was historically rooted in the manifestos of Catherine the Great, which invited foreigners to relocate to and work in Russia.
During the plenary session, titled "What Does It Mean to 'Belong' in a Multiethnic Russia?", speakers included Magomedsalam Magomedov, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation; Maria Zakharova, Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry; and Ruslan Gagkuev, Chairman of the Board of the Russian Historical Society.
Tatyana Filippova spoke during the session "Assembly of the Peoples of Russia: The Energy of Unity." She shared the experience of the regional branch of the all-Russian public organization "Assembly of the Peoples of Russia" in working with children and young people. Her presentation was titled "Our Living Traditions: Ethno-games as a Method for Engaging with Youth."
"It is a great honor for me to represent my home region and Derzhavin University on such a significant international platform. It was especially valuable to serve as a speaker and share our practices," says Tatyana Filippova. "In my presentation, I noted that ethno-games are an effective tool for strengthening interethnic harmony: they introduce young people to the cultures and traditions of various peoples, foster respect for cultural diversity, and help build dialogue among individuals of different nationalities."
