Students of Derzhavin University Sofia Tatarko and Tatyana Denisova took part in the rowing competition in the capital of the Black Earth Region. The sports competitions were held in the waters of the Voronezh Reservoir on the Day of the Russian Navy.
The girls represented the Derzhavin University Tourist Club and became part of the combined team of Tambov and Lipetsk.
On that day, 25 teams and 300 rowers on Dragon class boats competed for the main prize. The competition was distinguished by a high intensity of sports competition and incredible spectacle.
According to the rules of the competition, each team member takes his or her place in the direction of the boat's movement, shoulder to shoulder with a partner and works with one oar. At the bow of the boat is a drummer, setting an energetic pace and dynamics, at the stern is a helmsman, using a large oar to control the vector of the vessel's movement.
- During the competition, the team's coherence plays a big role: for rowers, it is the simultaneity and technique of performing the stroke itself, for the helmsman, it is the choice of the correct trajectory of movement. Because if one of the participants makes a mistake, the result of the entire team suffers, - comments Sofia Tatarko. - Petrovskaya Regatta is a wonderful event. Thanks to the support of Voronezh residents, the excellent festive mood on Navy Day was felt. The atmosphere was incredible, ignited and inspired the fight. I would definitely like to take part in the regatta next year.
According to the results of the races on the Dragons, the combined team of Tambov and Lipetsk came to the finish line fourth. For the athletes of the Derzhavin University Tourist Club, that was the first experience of participating in such a large-scale competition.
