Students from Derzhavin University took part in the educational marathon "Russia – a Family of Families" at the National Center "Russia" in Moscow. It was there that Russian President Vladimir Putin officially launched the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. The event, organized by the Russian Society "Knowledge," brought together over four thousand representatives of over 190 nationalities across the country.
Derzhavin University students were among the thousands of students, schoolchildren, public figures, and foreign guests who gathered to participate in this historic event. In his speech, Vladimir Putin emphasized the importance of shared spiritual values and respect for the cultures of all peoples of Russia.
The trip allowed Derzhavin University students to become part of a federal event and experience the scale and diversity of Russian identity. As the president noted in his address, it was precisely respect for the culture and traditions of each people who joined Russia that has shaped common core values over the centuries, which became the central theme of the marathon.
"The program was very packed: concerts, interactive activities, and master classes all took place on the same platform. We weren't able to attend the entire kaleidoscope of events, but that didn't stop us from gaining experience, emotions, and impressions. We learned about other cultures, saw vibrant national costumes, and were inspired to hold events for the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia at our university," shared Ilya Popov, a fourth-year student in the Derzhavin Faculty of History, Political Science, and Philology.
To mark the start of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin held a themed interactive quest. At seven stations, participants immersed themselves in the country's cultural diversity: they learned about national holidays, traditional dishes, wise proverbs, greetings in different languages, songs, as well as the distinctive features of the heraldry and costumes of the peoples of Russia.
