Eleven students of Derzhavin University, majoring in Philology, Linguistics, Pedagogical Education, and International Relations, returned from China after completing their studies at the School of International Education at Hainan University.
The internship was carried out under the student exchange program “Chinese Language and Culture”.
– We took an intensive Chinese Language course – worked on our pronunciation, learned writing and perceived the language by ear. The teachers explained the material exclusively in Chinese. At first, it was difficult to switch to another language, but then I got used to their speech rate and the process of learning Chinese became much more effective, – says Veronika Trofimova, a first-year student of the Pedagogical Education program at Derzhavin University. – For me, an internship is not just a line on my resume, it is an invaluable experience and an opportunity to get closer to my dream job, expand my professional horizons and gain the skills necessary for a successful career in the modern world. I will not hide the fact that moving to another country is a real test of strength. Adaptation requires patience, openness and a willingness to overcome difficulties. But it is these challenges that make my experience so valuable and significant.
During the four-month internship, the students were able to immerse themselves in the language environment, improve their knowledge and improve their communication skills. In addition to the intensive educational program, Derzhavin University students had intensive extracurricular activities. The students got acquainted with the natural and cultural attractions of Hainan Island, visited the coast of the South China Sea, studied the country's traditions, and tasted Asian cuisine.
– The exchange program began with intensive Chinese language classes, which were held both in the form of lectures and practical classes. Every day we immersed ourselves in learning the language, mastered new words and phrases, and also got acquainted with the cultural aspects of China. The teachers not only taught us the language, but also shared interesting facts about the traditions and customs of the country. This allowed me not only to improve my language skills, but also to better understand the culture of the PRC, – noted Sofya Sosedova, a third-year student of the Philology program at Derzhavin University. – Every day at Hainan University was filled with communication with foreign students who came from all over the world. I have developed real friendships with many of them, which continue after the end of the program. I am sincerely grateful to Derzhavin University for the opportunity to take part in the exchange program. I am sure that the knowledge and impressions I received will stay with me for a long time.
