A meeting was held at Derzhavin University between students majoring in pedagogy from higher and secondary vocational educational institutions in the region and the Acting Governor of the Tambov Region, Evgeny Pervyshov. This initiative was a result of a directive given by Pervyshov at a meeting of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Tambov Region.
The objectives of the meeting were to discuss the future of the teaching profession and education, and to create a platform for dialogue between the regional leader and future teachers.
Participants included students from Derzhavin University, the Socio-Pedagogical Institute of Michurinsk State Agrarian University, the Pedagogical College, as well as teachers and heads of educational institutions across the region. Graduates of Tambov schools currently studying at Moscow State Pedagogical University also joined the discussion online.
- Future teachers are already our pride. They have chosen not only a much-needed and important profession, but also a true calling. We are now working on ways to support students who choose to remain and work in our region," said Acting Governor Evgeny Pervyshov.
During the interactive discussion, participants addressed trends in education, support measures for young teachers, employment opportunities, and career growth.
- As a future teacher of Russian Language and Literature, I understand the great responsibility of the profession. I have consciously chosen my path and plan to work in a school," said Karina Martyanova, a first-year student studying the “Russian Language and Literature” program at Derzhavin University. - I believe it is important for regional universities to take into account the experience of studying in pedagogical classes by awarding extra points to applicants during admission. My proposal received support from Acting Governor Evgeny Pervyshov and Derzhavin University Rector Pavel Moiseev. I am confident that this initiative will be implemented. It will help attract the most talented youth to the profession and solve the problem of staff shortage.
Derzhavin University students presented their completed projects and initiatives and shared experiences from their teaching practice.
Students raised questions about support measures for young educators, including housing programs, attracting youth to the region, and introducing a regional governor’s scholarship for top pedagogy students.
They also inquired about the development of preschool education, prospects for major school renovations, and the governor’s personal family memories related to World War II.
At the end of the meeting, Evgeny Pervyshov thanked the students for the open dialogue and summarized the outcomes of the discussion.
