Derzhavin University students Pavel Kozadayev and Polina Tarutina became winners and prize winners of the IV Russian-Chinese Youth Winter Games.
More than 220 athletes took part in the international tournament. The competitions were held in nine winter sports: figure skating, freestyle, short track, curling, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, ski jumping, and Nordic combined. The games were hosted by Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
For the first time, two representatives of Derzhavin University were included in the Russian national cross-country skiing team and represented the university at international competitions.
Based on the results of the medal standings, third-year student of the Derzhavin University Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Pavel Kozadayev became the champion in the relay, the bronze medalist in the 15 km freestyle race and showed the sixth result in the 10 km classic style.
Polina Tarutina, a second-year student of Derzhavin University at the Institute of New Technologies and Artificial Intelligence, became the vice-champion in the 5 km classic style. In the relay, the skier was awarded a bronze medal and entered the top 4 in the 10 km freestyle.
