Students from Derzhavin University were awarded the "Volunteer of the Year" badge for their active volunteer work. The awards ceremony took place on the eve of Russia Day and Tambov City Day.
This year, 11 representatives of the university community received awards for their contribution to the development of the volunteer movement. The awards were presented by Maxim Kosenkov, Head of the City Administration, and Konstantin Kuteynikov, Head of the Municipality and Chairman of the Tambov City Duma, to activists of public organizations, working youth, and "silver age" volunteers.
The following Derzhavin University students were awarded the "Volunteer of the Year" badge: Valery Grafsky and Anastasia Zhalnina (Institute of Medicine and Health Preservation); Artem Seregin (Faculty of Physical Education and Sports); Veronika Belyaeva, Danila Bolotkin, Irina Kanaeva, Matvey Grinev, and Anastasia Aristova (Institute of Economics, Information Technology, and Creative Industries); Anastasia Loginova, Kirill Mikhailov, and Alexander Samoilov (Institute of Pedagogy).
Derzhavin's volunteers conduct community service in areas such as ecology, healthcare, sports, patriotic education, and support for SVO participants. They demonstrate their skills in the most challenging conditions: eliminating the consequences of environmental disasters, conducting emergency recovery operations, donation drives, and participating in socially significant initiatives.
"The main principle of volunteerism is to put public interests above personal ones and to help selflessly," says Tigran Markaryan, director of the Boomerang Student Volunteer Initiatives Resource Center. "Our students participate in humanitarian missions, respond to emergencies in the Krasnodar Krai, support patriotic projects, and provide assistance to SVO soldiers as part of the 'Universities for the Front' campaign." They actively contribute to the organization and implementation of large-scale events at the regional and federal levels. Volunteering is a path to developing empathy and leadership skills, transforming the world, and, of course, becoming the best version of yourself.
