Derzhavin University students Margarita Kalistratova and Maria Gerasimchuk majoring in Pedagogical Education, Elizaveta Tikhonova majoring in International Relations, Victoria Aleksandrova majoring in Philology are undergoing an internship in Chinese Language at Anshan Normal University (PRC).
The girls became participants in the second wave of academic exchange with the Derzhavin University partner. The internship became possible thanks to the current agreement on cooperation and academic exchange of students, concluded earlier between the two universities.
Anshan Normal University has many years of experience in teaching Chinese to foreigners. Its structural division, the Institute of International Education, has been operating for over thirty years. The university has experienced teaching staff, unique teaching methods, and Chinese language teaching is conducted in small groups. The program includes comprehensive language learning, reading and writing in Chinese, listening, and spoken Chinese.
– We don’t just study here, we live in a small family. Our teachers are very kind to us – they try to help if we have any difficulties with the language or in everyday life. The class is divided into two 40-minute parts, so that students can take a little rest and relax. Instead of the usual bells for the lesson, traditional Chinese music plays here. The atmosphere is conducive to learning, – says Victoria Aleksandrova, a first-year student at Derzhavin University.
The educational cluster of Anshan Normal University has a developed infrastructure - classrooms are equipped with modern multimedia equipment, computer labs are equipped with modern software, the university library stores over 700 thousand copies of educational and scientific literature, there are canteens and sports grounds.
– The internship at Anshan Normal University is really useful and interesting. For four months, we will study national customs and the Chinese language. In two weeks, we were able to learn basic phrases for communication outside the campus. The training takes place in collaboration with native Chinese speakers, which certainly speeds up the process of learning the language, immersing students more deeply in the language environment, – noted Margarita Kalistratova, a third-year student at Derzhavin University . – On the university campus, you can do both intense and creative activities. We recently attended an event where we were able to make traditional Chinese masks used in the Beijing Opera. I think the internship will give you an incredible amount of knowledge and vivid emotions.
