Derzhavin Tambov State University has launched the new academic year in collaboration with international partners by implementing academic mobility programs. Under signed agreements, Derzhavin University students have begun their studies at universities in the People's Republic of China.
Specifically, Sofya Shchedrina—a student specializing in Design within the Faculty of Mass Communications and Creative Industries—has started a Chinese language internship at Anshan Normal University.
"I was impressed by the clear and well-thought-out organization of the international student reception at the Chinese university. You don't feel like you've been thrown into a 'roaring ocean' here. On the contrary, volunteers or representatives from the international cooperation office guide you through every stage. Thanks to this support, adapting to the new environment is quick and comfortable," says Derzhavin University student Sofya Shchedrina.
Valeriya Samoylova and Veronika Trofimova from the Derzhavin Institute of Pedagogy, along with Roman Dutov (majoring in International Relations at the Faculty of History, Political Science, and Philology) and Sofya Sosedova (a Master’s student in Linguistics), have arrived at Hubei University in Wuhan to take a course on Chinese language and culture.
"Wuhan, the city where Hubei University is located, is stunningly beautiful and magnificent. The locals are very welcoming. I’ve already made friends with Chinese students and am eagerly looking forward to the start of classes," said Valeriya Samoylova. "I would like to express my deep gratitude to my university—Derzhavin University—and to all the organizers for this opportunity."
The internships will last for one academic semester. Participants in the academic mobility programs will immerse themselves in the linguistic and cultural environment of the PRC, improve their Chinese language proficiency, and engage with the traditions and culture of one of the world’s oldest civilizations.
The scope of Derzhavin University’s international cooperation continues to expand. Another Chinese partner—Nantong Institute of Technology—is ready to host university students for a language internship. Currently, three Derzhavin students are finalizing preparations for the internship, which is scheduled to begin in mid-October.
