Every year, Derzhavin University students study at the School of International Education of Hainan University under the program "Chinese Language and Culture" as part of the student exchange program which is being realized on the basis of the agreement between the two universities. As a result, they improve their linguistic knowledge and gain invaluable experience of living in the Celestial Empire. On August 26, 2024, a group of 15 Derzhavin University students went to China. For the majority of the students, the training will last for one semester, and four students will spend an academic year in China - from September 2024 to July 2025.
The group includes students studying at the Faculty of Philology and Linguistics (Elvira Chibizova, Elina Skatkova, Sofia Sosedova, Kirill Krivets, Ekaterina Kovaleva, Anastasia Bredikhina, Vlada Lyutaya) and representatives of other faculties: Sofia Abakumova and Ksenia Gorbunova (Institute of Creative Industries, Economics and Entrepreneurship), Veronika Trofimova (Faculty of Pedagogy), Kirill Vyatkin (Faculty of History, Political Science and Journalism).
For some philology students, this is not their first internship in China. As noted by third-year students Ekaterina Popova, Arianna Oganisyan, Alina Shestopalova, and Daria Kolodina, who are going to China for two semesters, Haikou, the capital of Hainan Province, offers a unique opportunity to expand their knowledge, broaden their horizons, and take a fresh look at the world.
