Derzhavin Volleyball team has played the first matches of Rector's Christmas Cup. Twelve teams from the Tambov and Ryazan regions participated in the competition. Schoolchildren, students, and amateur volleyball players competed on the court.
The tournament was held in the popular volleyball format. Each team was mixed-gender —three men and three women. throughout the day they played numerous matches. In the Light group, the winners were "Gorodzhane," with "Sasovo" just one step away from victory, and the bronze medalists, "Golden Team."
In the Hard group, the Derzhavin team won two podium positions. Team "TSU 2" took first place, "TSU 1" took second, and the bronze went to team "Opyt" from the Tambov region.
Individual prizes were also awarded: Best Forward – Ivan Gryaznev, Best Blocker – Timofey Kolesnikov, Best Server – Alina Matveeva, Best Defender – Alina Aksenova, MVP – Evgeny Shishkin, and Best Setter – Vlad Ustinov.
The Derzhavin University Rector's Christmas Volleyball Cup is planned to become a traditional tournament.
