Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin and Voronezh State Forest Technical University named after G.F. Morozov signed a strategic partnership agreement during the plenary session of the International Forestry Forum, dedicated to sustainable forest development in the course of global challenges.
The forum brought together leading scientists, industry experts, representatives of government agencies, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and relevant departments. Participants discussed key areas of forest resource conservation, including plant genetics and breeding, decarbonization technologies, bioeconomics, and digitalization of the forest sector.
Participants emphasized the joint project between the two universities – Derzhavinsky and VSTU – to create a carbon testing ground, which will address issues of carbon footprint reduction and greenhouse gas monitoring. This project aims to improve the environmental sustainability of regions and the entire country. The signing of the agreement marked an important step in strengthening ties between the universities, opening up opportunities for joint projects, developing new educational programs, and intensifying scientific collaboration.
— "The signing of the strategic partnership agreement is a significant step forward, enabling us to integrate the scientific potential of our universities to effectively respond to global climate change. Our joint contribution to the creation of a carbon testing ground will provide an additional boost to the environmental well-being of the state," emphasized Alexander Gusev, Vice-Rector for Science at TSU named after G.R. Derzhavin.
