Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Olga Petrova visited Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin. Olga Viktorovna took part in the opening of a mother-and-child room and a short-term stay room for children on the campus of Derzhavin University. 2024 was declared the Year of the Family by the President of Russia. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation has developed a set of measures aimed at increasing state support and social guarantees for young student families. During a direct dialogue with students, it was revealed that young people consider it especially important to create infrastructure for student families with children. In this regard, the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia is working to create mother-and-child rooms in universities, where young student mothers will be able to leave their children during classes in a specially equipped cozy space under the supervision of a teacher. The Help Mom Study project, which supports this idea, has been developed and is being implemented by the Ministry since the beginning of this year. The project operator is Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin.
The mother and child room will start functioning from the new academic year. The room is located on the university campus, within walking distance of the academic buildings. The creation of such a space is another step by Derzhavinsky to support young student families with children. Currently, there are 175 student families in Derzhavinsky, 66 of which have children.
In recent years, the university has been improving the comfortable environment for students and young families of staff and teachers, expanding the possibilities of high-quality medical care in the university clinical center, and improving the mechanisms of legal and psychological support. Together with DOM.RF and the regional government, a rental house will be commissioned in 2025, where two floors will be allocated for apartments for young student families.
